@bodangles but i dont think i was OVER qualified for case. its not like i had a 4.0 and a 2300 or anything.
Well, I don’t know then. But it happened to me last year and they did end up offering me a spot, but my safeties were cheaper so I declined. You could still get in, if that’s your top choice or whatever. Good luck!
@bodangles so where do you go now?
Penn State (+ honors college).
@MsSunday Yeah I don’t understand it.
I got waitlisted for Comp Sci/Eng with a 33ACT, 800 math 2, 3.95UW/4.31UC/4.41 uncapped?? Captain of two varsity sports team and player on a third, standard medley of clubs, work experience, low income, white, male, and what I thought were great essays. Accepted to UCSB through Chancellor’s Reception, Cal Poly Engineering, UCSD, UCI Campuswide Honors, etc.
really confused as to why I got waitlisted although I wasn’t interested in davis and even would have cancelled my app in December if it would have saved me the money.
I know that it’s become easier and easier at the UCs for Oos students to get in because the UC system needs the money, meaning that less spots are open for Californian students. It’s very unfair, IMO, because my family is not contributing anything towards the Cali system and yet it seems like it was easier for me to get into UCSD than a Californian kid. It almost would make me feel bad for matriculating.
I am sorry to hear man. I got waitlisted by UCSD. I applied for electrical engineering, which is an impacted major at UCSD I understand.
SAT:1980 GPA: 4.06 weighted
SATII 790 math II and 710 Chem
took 8APs including senior year’s course loads.
my ec are normal… But then I am still comparing my options until other colleges decisions come out. Keep your head high, there is always hope.
@Qwerty568 oh please. thats just ludicrous. taxpayers are paying for OOS students? i swear… in 10 years the amreican economy is going to be sooo scewed and the USD is not going to be the reserve currency anymore.
@crossfire123 i also applied electrical.
@finallyfree crossing my fingers and hope I will get into UCI!!
ugh. my parents were bit ching at me today and saying stuff like “Why didnt you try harder”. “Why didnt you listen to us”. “You should have taken the ACT”. ugh. i hate my life so much now.
@finallyfree UCSC comes out tonight (idk if you applied). My parents were exactly like that too, especially since I live in Davis Good luck!!!
@coffeelife i didnt apply. the only other ones i applied to were uc berkely and la. lol i COMPLETELY forgot that i applied to irvine (i didnt care for it).
yup I got waitlisted for comp sci as well…somewhat disappointing, but w/e
SAT: 2280, UC GPA: 4.21
UW: 3.92
@YuiHirasawa oh no. what has this world come down to?
@yuihirasawa I had a 2280 and a UC GPA of a 4.25 and got waitlisted too
@finallyfree haha I am not too distraught, as I got into UCSD, GTech, and UIUC in the same major but the waitlist does worry me in terms of my prospects for LA and Berkeley… oh well
@YuiHirasawa ugh. good for you. i got waitlisted at ucsd, rejected and gatech, but accpeted to uiuc (although it costs 50k for me).
@finallyfree CA tax payers don’t pay for OOS students. OOS students need to pay $36,180 to attend UCSD because they haven’t been paying CA taxes. In-state students only need to pay $13,302 to attend UCSD. (Not to mention in-state students receive Cal-Grant) OOS students do take up spaces that in-state students want, but it’s necessary. UCs need money from OOS students to keep the colleges up and running. Also, although a higher percentage of OOS students get accepted to UCs, they have higher average stats (SAT and GPA) than in-state students, so it’s still harder to get in as an OOS student.
Just wanted to tell you so that you don’t think that the UC system is messed up. (I’m a CA resident as well and was confused by OOS/in-state for a while)
@collegelife101 thats not what I was explicitly saying. The fact that UC’s are now giving more seats to OOS students means less in-states students are able to go to UC’s. These people (who didnt get into UC’s) are STILL paying taxpayers dollars to the education system (the UC system)… so why do they have to pay their taxes to the UC system, if more and more seats are going to OOS students? i know there are still more In state students in the UC’s then OOS, but I think the UC’s administrators are just slugs. They increase tuition by 5 percent for the next 5 years, they dont cut down taxes, AND they are getting more OOS students than instate students. They should just cut down on teacher salaries (and I know this sounds greedy), but really. They are putting teacher salaries at a higher priority than student education. There are teachers at my community college that are making 100 grand…
