I'm confused. I applied to UNC as a transfer student with a 4.0 college gpa and multiple ecs and great recs. In high school, I had a 3.8 gpa and 2030 SAT score. How did I get waitlisted?

Better call the wahhmbulance, boss.

This is a legitimate question. I’m really confused!

Well, you aren’t telling us about your ECs, if you sent in any LORs and from whom and what you think they were like, how you did on your essays, if you were a junior or sophomore transfer, if you had any unexplained Ws on your transcripts, if you had any unexplained/poorly-explained out of school gaps, and from which school you applied.

So we can’t really make any guesses as to why you were rejected, but I’m sure it had something to do with one of those things not being up to par.

Maybe you’re not as clever as you think you are?

Just wondering, but did you apply early or did you apply right before the deadline. That could sometimes make the difference between getting accepted or waitlisted. Also, what was your essay like?

<<<maybe you’re=“” not=“” as=“” clever=“” you=“” think=“” are?=“”>></maybe>

Maybe, you’re not as clever as you seem to think you are. Could you be any nastier or more insensitive?

To OP–there are many gifted applicants, transfer and otherwise, who don’t get in. It is heartbreaking to have performed so well and not to have gotten in. Can you reapply for next semester/next year??

As well, some schools’ admissions will talk to you, specifically, about your application, after the fact.

Best of luck to you.

3.8 weighted or unweighted? A weighted 3.8 is well below the norm for a UNC student, even in-state. If you’re OOS, SAT’s would need to be 2200+. They need to leave lots of transfer spots open for NC CC transfers.

If you were waitlisted, you still have s chance…so good luck!

Did you apply as a sophomore transfer or as a junior transfer? Sophomore transfer is much harder; UNC barely lets any sophomore transfers in.
