So I was randomly checking my application status for UF (like I always do) and today I saw they had received 3 of my test scores. I did in fact send the first two but NEVER did I send the third one! It’s my worst score. I only sent it to two other schools since they super score. I check my ACT score report and it lists the two schools that I picked not UF so I have no idea how UF has it. Can someone please help because I don’t want it there!!! I don’t know how they even got it.
They only “consider whichever score is most competitive for admission.” from https://admissions.ufl.edu/apply/freshman/ so there is nothing to fret about since they will ignore it.
I concur with @BuckeyeMWDSG. Don’t sweat it.
@BuckeyeMWDSG @GatorDad305 Ok I would agree with that statement but I’m sure there has to be SOME bias when they see I got 4 points lower on a test I took 3 months later. They’ll think it was a fluke and won’t consider it as highly right?
@PhilM1 Are you looking for validation that this is a problem? Even if it was, is there anything you can do about it? UF will likely analyze more than 50,000 applications this year. The quantitative parts, like test scores, will be compiled by a computer that is programmed to shoot out the highest score or the superscore. It’s probably the simplest and easiest part of the equation so I’m sure they leave it to the computers to superscore it for you. They know some kids improve and others don’t on standardized tests – that’s why they superscore. You will also notice that the SAT score, for example, includes an 80 point range, meaning you could be 40 points higher or 40 points lower on any given test day. The schools know some kids don’t always show super improvement each time – either because they got hit with a harder test or they were having a bad day.
Also, check out the UF common data set. (Google it.) You will see that UF lists the following academic factors as “Very Important:”
Rigor of secondary school record
Academic GPA
Application Essay
UF lists as “important:”
Standardized test scores
Class rank
Feel free to agonize over it, but it’s wasted energy.
@PhilM1 Forgot this part as well. Blog post from last year. http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/blog/2018/01/26/building-the-freshman-class.html
Note this line: “Once all the student applications have been read, applications will be matched up to their recalculated GPA and their best test scores received.”
Don’t worry about it. The admission folks will not see your 3rd score. They are only provide the best scores to review. It makes their lives a lot easier when reviewing 40K+ applications…
The same thing happened to us. We waited until the very end to send my daughter’s score so that we would only send the best one. And they sent the others as well… so much for picking which ones to send! Oh well… the consensus seems to be that it doesn’t matter so we aren’t sweating it.
As for ‘how this happened’, your scores might be part of your high school transcripts. My daughter’s were, and so were her AP test scores. Her college ended up with all of them and they are now on her transcript as ‘no credit’ which kind of sucks but in the long run won’t matter.
