I talked about how much I love Shaun of the Dead. For the "newspapers, magazines, and websites" one, I mentioned the New York Post (Page Six in particular) and Facebook. I really doubt that question will make or break your application; rather, it's more to get a feel of who you are as a person beyond all of the academics. They'll probably know if you put something down just to impress them (I'm sure they get enough of that), so why bother?

What about books? I put huck finn, Waiting, Great Gatsby, and the things they carried (this is actually a serious list). U think they'll think i put that just to impress them? I also had harry potter at the end of the list

I wouldn't worry about impressing them one way or another...just make sure it represents you. But I mean, putting down "Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, the Unam Sanctum, and Malleus Maleficarum" might raise some eyebrows on the admissions committee.

haha i talked about facebook too! did u describe each word (for the 5 words that described u best) or did u just list the word? And *** is up with the first essay question? I seriously have no idea what that's even really asking

u knoe wt same ere .. and the first essay should be like 10 line i think? 1800 characters .. how do u fit stuff into dat?

ahh!! are all of these answers supposed to be like a list? Some of mine aren't... for the books, movies, etc. one.... I put a movie, a book, a musical, and an artist and shortly explained why. Is that alright?

@elegantdancer: I think it should be fine....

As for the favourite movies, I actually put Blood Diamond and Finding Nemo - Completely different movies, I know.. But they are the ones I actually dont mind watching again and again... (Looking back on it, is it actually too childish to actually put on an app?)

I hope not shruthibaskaran. I did the same thing and put The Prestige and The Lion King as my favorite movies. I can see those movies 100 times and I still won't get bored of them.

ha i put 300 and finding nemo!

For favorite movie I put "Mulan" lol...I really didn't stress over the section. In fact, during the college app process, it served as my channel for "de-stressing."

300 and Finding Nemo? Haha...nice contrast.

I put Big Fish and Fight Club..

I think it would be hard to go wrong with the short answers except by overthinking them and coming up with a set of lists that look like they are tailored to sell yourself. I can't imagine an applicant who is a strong candidate and who would need to massively second guess their true interests here. Any applicant who needed to do that is almost certainly a weak candidate, which would show up elsewhere.
Certainly, you should give it some thought, since you have many interests and probably want to provide a representative picture. But don't overthink the process.

@Ailey - Yeah.. I feel that way too! :) As for putting Blood Diamond and Finding Nemo, like metaldragon said, I love the two movies!! 300 and Finding Nemo, is pretty contrasting though! :D

I just put 2 lines or less for each answer--just like the instructions said! I didn't give reasons for any answer....is that OK or did I just mess up? Becuz in the end there were like more than 200 characters still left for me for each answer!

I put "Find Nemo" too! (And "The Little Mermaid"... I have a strange attraction to Disney underwater movies...)

... and the funny thing is: I hate swimming.

I took up all my room for most answers. Like what rejuvenates you? I put something like "Nothing beats sitting there listening to music in the background, sipping mountain dew from my drinking helmet, and sitting down to deliver some serious damage on Halo live."
