People who broke 2000 can u give me advices. Did u self-study or took SAT classes? Currently a sophomore but want information for planning purposes. please give me any advice in order to help me break my goal of 2000 in 2009. LOL, kind of far from now. Thanks!

get the official sat guide. read everything in there. take the practice tests. 1st few tests dont worry about timing. get a sense of how long each section takes you and think of ways to make yourself more efficient. Then, go over every question on each test whether its right or wrong. that way you learn. then when your done with that book, find another one - do the same thing. Oh and take a class if you can but i didnt find it helpful at ALL. And its never too early to start prepping. good luck!

For math, pay attention in math class. For CR, read a lot of outside literature. Then grab the official sat guide and practice over and over again. Your score will increase with each year regardless, you shouldn't worry too much now. Just practice.

did a **** load of practice tests. also had a tutor but it didn't really help.

Pay attention in school and read a lot for pleasure. That's all you need. The books and classes are necessary only if you do not do that.

Definitely the official SAT guide.
My score increase:
Psat
M:67 ->670 ( Didn't focus on Math, hence it didn't rise much.)
CR:55 ->670 (READ. ^_^ Grab a novel, Read a magazine. That's all I did! and use the official SAT guide)
WR:58 -> 760 (Official SAT guide + Barron's Writing Workbook.. You need to make sure to practice the ones you know you have trouble with. Like mine was idioms, so I practiced idioms in the Barron's Workbook.. etc.. )
I can't suggest anything for the essay. I did two practices before the test. one in english class and another one about an hour or two before the test in the morning. haha

Well I got a 2000 on the dot, so my advice may not be as highly regarded, but as a person who went up 120 points, I think the best advice is to advance yourself in all subjects. After taking the SAT II Math and SAT II Lit, the regular SAT was a piece of cake. Try reading tougher 19th century novels in your spare time and actually doing the Official SAT Question Of THe Day things (hmm, I should un-subscribe from those sometime).

I don't find the sat question of the day very helpful. I could see how it would be, because I did notice myself getting better at answering those questions, but they're all so much easier than anything you'll ever see on the sat.

Those questions come from the Past exam between 1994-1997. I have checked a coupld of times.

I took one practice test the day before the exam & walked out with a 2100 (1420 on 1600 scale). Honestly, if you know what you're doing, you don't need to study. You already know everything on that test. At most, I would suggest brushing up on some geometry formulas. The rest of it is just knowing the English language.
