When did you start getting used to college? Is it really scary at first?

I was just excited to get away from home, lol. It's a little scary socially, having to make new friends and stuff, but I wasn't scared about the academics or anything. I go to a state school, so if I had gone to an ivy or something I probably would've been more worried academically.
The worst part is first semester when you are trying to find new friends. After that, college is AWESOME.

I loved it in the beginning. Hated it about 2 months in, then loved it again after 2 more months. Loved it ever since.

I just visited my college and I love it. I don't really know why. It's just something about the city...

What I'm scared about is ending up not liking in the end and having to go back home...does anyone know anybody that ended up doing that?

I thought that I was going to be that way, which is one of the reasons that I decided to attend Cleveland State, because it was close to my house where if I wanted to commute I could but I chose to live on campus my first year so I could meet more friends and "live the college life" that everyone always talks about. It's really about putting yourself out there, joining some sort of organization and not just sitting in your room with the door closed! Because once you feel comfortable with the school and your new friends, it's a blast!!

Being in "making friends mode" where everyone is trying to be cool, or "please like me," and everyone's a bit hesitant, BLOWS.

But after the first month or so college is pretty awesome, has been great ever since.

i loved college pretty much the minute i got there, which is fabulous--especially considering the fact that i'd had my heart set on another [super expensive private] school..

i thought "wow this is so awesome. the campus is so big and nice and theres loads of people here. i feel bad for the people that hate school and never want to go on... they are really missing out."

thats what entered my mind.

And it still is?

uncertain
excited
hopeful
quite happy/satisfied

first semester was a blast. the biggest challenge was probably making friends and establishing social networks, but after that, it's fun. i must admit though that the second semester of my freshman year is sort of...disenchanting. all of the typical college first experiences are already had, and your classes become more difficult, and you realize college is really all about the academics and not just the social scene.
