This is for people who attend CSULA or those who just got accepted. Cal State LA is the school I am most interested in. What did your application look like? What were your SAT and ACT scores? High school GPA???.. both for the CSU’s and the regular one if possible.
Thank you so much!!
All the Cal States (except SLO) use the same simple method to evaluate applicants. All students who complete the a-g course list are ranked by Eligibility Index. You can read about it here: http://www.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/elig_index_calculator.asp
If you are a ‘local’ applicant. to CSULA. a 2900 (SAT) Index will get you in. That equates to about a 2.4GPA and 1000 SAT.
They recently declared their campus impacted so. their threshold is a little tough to divine but, my bet is a 3100 would do the trick for most majors.
You can read about it here:

@NCalRent My EI rate for the SAT is around a 3,800. My CSU GPA on my high school transcript is a 3.643 and my SAT score is a 910.
For the ACT its around an 880. My ACT score was a 16.
I want to be a nursing major.
Nursing is one of those majors where they are looking for more but, with 3800 EI, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting into the school.

They will make you meet additional GPA and course load requirements to be officially admitted into the Nursing program. This is a pretty common thing at CSUs.
Take a look at CSU CI as well.
@NCalRent Update:
My EI rate for CSU’s is a 4,162. Should i put nursing as my major for Cal State La?
You will probably be a competitive candidate but, with nursing, the cohorts are so small, it is very hard to be sure. Apply broadly.
Good luck.
Would Cal State La consider my alternate major, which is undeclared? Or are my chances lowered?
@NCalRent (read above post)
To the best of my knowledge, CP Pomona is the only CSU that admits into a second choice major.
From the CSU LA web site:
Applicants wishing to major in Nursing should select Nursing (Freshmen) on CSU Mentor; and if eligible, admitted as an Undeclared major with an interest in Nursing.
Once admitted and enrolled at the University, students should contact the School of Nursing to learn more about how to become a Nursing major.
Their site notes also notes your alternate major MAY BE considered.
In my experience MAY BE considered often means, never gonna happen .
Given the stakes, I’d call and ask.
