i'm pretty good at math and reading comprehension.
but i pretty much suck at vocabulary.
i'm using "master the ISEE and SSAT" by arco, but it's not helping me much.
would using SAT vocab lists help me more than the lists they give in SSAT books?

I did some exercises in Kaplan, Princeton Review, and the Official SSAT Prep Guide (the one that the SSAT company makes). One thing that kind of helped me was going through the glossery of the Kaplan book the day before the test, making them into index cards, and memorizing them. I didn't want to do it before, but it ended up being fine memorizing them the day before.

get some review books and go through them. if you still need help ask your parents to get you a tutor or take a ssat course. it also helps to take a few practice tests.

for the vocab, get a princeton revview, memorize the ssat vocab. and then some more. they only throw in some hard ones on the real test here and there.

knowing root words/ prefixes/ suffixes will also help you

reaaaaadddddd boooookkkkkssssss

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnng iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. ;)

haha, yeah, that's what i did. i really did wing it. i bought the book, but i was too bored to study it.. it was very boring. i skimmed over the vocab, and i started to appreciate obscure vocab words more (so when i read the times, i would make note of the word "chagrined" or something). i'm not a good example, really. the night before i was so upset with my procrastination that i stayed up until 4 AM (test is at 8) worrying and hating myself for procrastinating.. i didn't eat or drink the day before or the day of the test and i was out of my mind by the time we left the house.. i walked into the kitchen and forgot why i went in there, etc.. i couldn't wake up and when i did my mom said i was acting like a zombie.. we were late, etc... i did EVERYTHING I wasn't supposed to do. somehow, i got a better score than i was hoping for by just ....wung.....winged.... it. i'm resourceful like that :)

Get a vocab list, look at and try to learn a few words every night before you go to bed, and then try to USE the new words you have learned. I found that if I used the words I was studying I would retain them. Also, look up any words you come across during the day that you do not know the meaning of.

I got an SAT vocab list and studied it.

For the verbal I used sat vocabulary lists and princeton review.
And I agree with chacha, using the words REALLY help.

didn't study at all and did fine. your score is important to the admissions process only if it's low and you are applying to an elite school.

Princeton Review worked for me. I made flash cards and studied with them for a few weeks before the test. Other than that, though, not a whole lot.
