how did you submit standardized test scores?

did you do official report? use common app? report within the applicant portal?

Son used the CA.

Yale only asks that you self-report scores; if you’re accepted into Yale and choose to attend, then they ask that you send in an official report.

the thing i’m confused about is if you need to send all scores even though CA only asks for your highest

The Yale supplement included a section to report any and all additional scores.

You do need to send all scores of either ACT or SAT.

The Yale website says that you can “satisfy Yale’s standardized testing requirements by self-reporting all ACT and/or SAT scores on the application.” They ask that you self-report all scores, but they do superscore the SAT. Once you submit your app, your application status portal will show that your SAT/ACT Score Report was “waived” as a US applicant (if you’re international, you have to send an official report). So I’m thinking that you’re supposed to include all scores in the Testing section of the main Common App portion?

^ You can’t. The main section only allows you to report your best section scores. If you took more than one SAT or ACT then you would need to use the Yale supplement’s section which allows you to report all tests that weren’t reported in the main section of the CA. My son only took one test -the March SAT. So he didn’t need to report additional scores in the Yale supplement. Had he taken two SAT’s, he would have reported his superscore in the main section and provided score detail by test date in the Yale supplement. Hope that’s clear.

@JBStillFlying I must have missed that detail, because I too only took one SAT and therefore didn’t have to go through that process. So then I’m guessing you would want to list your highest score on the Common App portion and then all remaining scores for that test type (either SAT or ACT) would be listed in the Yale Supplements section?

@seagreensoul - Yes. In your case your highest score would be from the same test and test date. That would get reported on the main part of the Common Ap. Then in the Yale supplement section that asks “do you have any additional scores to report?” you would reply “No”, assuming that your subject scores and AP scores, etc. are also reported in the main section. Yale also mentions other types of tests I’m not familiar with and the applicant obviously has the opportunity to self-report those as well.

@JBStillFlying Thanks for the info! I’ll be sure to do that for my other colleges.

I didn’t realize that we were supposed to report other scores on the yale supplement?? Should I let yale know / how would i go about that?? I only reported highest scores on CA

@barbietingz12 you can probably use the “update application” function in your Yale portal, unless you’ve already submitted official scores (obviously those are allowed as well).

Here is the link to the Yale testing requirements: https://admissions.yale.edu/standardized-testing#required

yea i sent them an update listing all my composite + section scores and apologizing for my oversight! i rly hope this doesn’t reflect badly on me and that it’s not too late or anything  it’s just everyone around me said filling out the “testing” section + sending official score reports AFTER acceptance would suffice

^ Always best to rely on what the school actually says on the website and/or states in their admissions sessions. You can’t go wrong if you do that. Good luck to you!

ik i just assumed i was doing the right thing and didn’t think to check. thank u for ur help! i hope this reaches them in time and doesn’t negatively impact my chances…wasn’t trying to deceive them :((

Highly doubt you appear as if you were trying to deceive them, especially if you reported two different dates for the superscore.
