How did you use the AMSCO book to get a 5 on APUSH and 700+ on the SAT II??

Hey,

As the title says, I'm taking the AP US History test this year along with the SAT II in US History in May. I just got the AMSCO book a couple of days ago. I was wondering how ppl who used it successfully to study read it.

Did you highlight it, read it straight through, or outline?? or something else?

Everyone works differently. Some people will need to highlight/take notes while reading, while others can just read through it and absorb the material.

Find out what works for you. The only thing that's universal is that you have to think while reading. ;)

Are you in an APUSH class or just self-studying? I was in a class, and I just read straight through the book. I got a 5 on the AP and a 770 on the SAT II. If you're self-studying, it might require a little more than just reading through the book once.

thanks for ur replies!

i'm in the class, so i'll probably only have time to read it thru once.

wow i would love to get a 770 on the SAT II =)

i just read through it once, got a 5 on the AP and a 760 on the SAT II, pretty much like bts7390.

did u take a class thought apathy? im basically not taking a class since im taking regular US history at our school which is a joke

yeah i was in a class, and it was an excellent class too. however, AMSCO without a doubt helped. if you know your major themes and are able to explicate them in DBQs (practice the AMSCO ones) you should do fine. AMSCO is seriously like the best book ever.
