If your interviewer never mentioned the reception in December or whether or not he hopes to see you there, but rather good luck with the rest of your application process, then it is not a good sign isnot it?

My most important advice: Don't let your family eavesdrop. Ask them to leave the house or go to a part of the house where you can talk without being overheard. You need to be as comfortable as possible to be yourself without being concerned about your parents' second guessing you.

You also should be the one to greet the interviewer at the door and to offer cookies, a soft drink or some very light (nothing special) refreshment. Your parents needn't be seen. Your pet shouldn't be in the room with the interviewer (who could be allergic or dislike animals). It's your time, not your family's.

Kle: Whether or not an interviewer mentioned any upcoming reception is meaningless.

"Does anyone have tips for interviews IN YOUR OWN HOME?"

My first instinct would be to keep my family well hidden and out of sight - preferably as far away from the house as possible. That could just be me.

Kle - what is this reception you talk of?
