I've heard from many people that the two ask for different things, but if you review the content, wouldn't it be easy to get a good score on one if you got a good score on the other one? Any feedback or opinions from personal experiences would be appreciated...

I'm a junior, and i'm going to take the US History SAT II's in may. I heard from a couple of seniors that the AP exam is a lot harder than the sat ii test. I think if you're prepared for the ap exam you will be ready for the sat ii subject test...good luck

The AP requires actual understanding of the material, whereas the sat 2 is basically memorizing facts.

I'm in the same boat---SAT IIs and APs in May for US History and Biology.

I don't know specifically about the US history exams...but in general, if you've taken the AP course, the sat II's should be a snap.
It doesn't really work the other way though - a good score on the sat IIs doesn't mean a good score on the AP.
I think the SAT IIs target a group of collegebound high school students. AP students, though, are essentially taking a college course, so the test-makers for sure raise the bar.

I know someone who is
1) a good testtaker (1540 SATI)
2) got a 5 on the AP US Test

and they only got a 720...but i dont know if this is unusual.

I have a 1450 and made a 5 on APUSH Test and only got a 690 on US History SAT II. I think the SAT II is much harder.

I got a 5 on the AP test and a 790 on the SATII. A 5 in World history too.

The difference in the M.C. is so small that you should not worry about it. Some people say there is a difference but you can't tell it when you are taking them. They have about the same difficulty.

The real difference is not having to write essays. If you are much better at the essays than the M.C., the SAT II is harder. Same if you suck at writing.

I guess that you can say that the SAT II's scoring system is less forgiving, 800 pt. vs 5 pt, and that could make it harder if you want to say you got a perfect score, but you can miss questions and still get a 800.

ive always heard that the ap exam is more difficult than the sat II

I got a 5 on the ap and took the sat2 in june with only a minor hour or so of additionl studying and got a 770. I would say they are similar enough that it is worth taking. Just brush up on some recent stuff though.

Yeah I thought the SAT II was more concept oriented, and the AP more fact oriented. (5 - APUSH, 690 US History SAT II)
