What's the average GPA for Ross students. How difficult would it be to maintain at least a 3.4 GPA? How hard are the courses compared to other undergrad business schools (Wharton, Kelley, etc.

The competition is the biggest thing. You’re put in an environment where everyone is a smart, accomplished kid that really wants to succeed. Even if you learn the material very well you could get B’s because everyone knows if pretty well. Ross makes the exams very difficult on purpose to create a situation where a fair curve can be established. Because of the caliber of students in the bschool and the set grading curve for every ross class it can sometimes be difficult to get A’s, but if you put an honest effort forth and learn the material you shouldn’t fall out of the B range. What your gpa will end up being really just depends on how quickly and well you can grasp the material. I have no idea how the class difficulty compares to other top bschools.

My Ross friends who are sophomores and juniors say that the classes aren’t that difficult. Some of they say they haven’t touched Calculus since high school and there’s GPA grade inflation.

The average letter grade is somewhere in the B and is higher than that of typical LSA. So it should balance out. Also A+ is like 4.3. All in all they try to inflate so students can get better jobs.

With 4.4s for A+s and basic math I can’t imagine its that bad. All of thus “Earth shattering, bone breaking competition exclusive to Ross” aside, I’d be that if you actually came in and put in the time and effort you’d get above a 3.4

I want to say the average GPA for a Ross student is 3.65. The Ross classes are more difficult, but generally the students do well in the LSA classes so a 3.65 average is obviously quite high.

^That’s the average for getting in. The average gpa in Ross is around a 3.4.

^ Are you sure? http://www.bus.umich.edu/pdf/EmploymentData2012.pdf says the average BBA GPA is 3.65. It isn’t overly clear of whether or not that is the acceptance GPA or the final GPA, though.

that is acceptance gpa

Classes are hard if you hate the material, not that hard if you think the material is interesting, just like any other class. Even if you bomb the class you can’t really get below a B-/C+ so that’s a plus, but you can also try really hard and still only end up with a B, so that’s the negative. GPA is inflated, you’ll be fine.

^ that’s pretty spot on. participation makes up a large portion of your grades junior year on onward, which means obviously the kids who do their assigned readings and care about their grades more will nab that portion of the grade.
