comm 10 isn’t an insanely hard class, but it’s really competitive because people who are trying to get into the comm major basically need an A in it. so you’ll have to study a LOT if you want to do well in it. if you don’t need comm for a requirement, you should try to avoid it.

Drop it nao.

Unless you are Comm major (I keep assuming everyone is Engineering for some reason)

is comm103a a difficult class?

I’ve taken Philos 7 with Almog.

Assuming no massive changes since winter quarter last year:

There is a course reader. There are no assignments. The midterm and final questions (There are essay questions only) will be given to you ahead of time. Before the final there is a review session in which the TAs will literally give you the answers to the final questions. It is absolutely imperative that you go to this review session no matter what. Attendance will be like 90%.

My advice would be to bring a tape recorder to class. I didn’t get what he was talking about the first time through and he tends to stray a lot. So listen very closely or listen later which isn’t asking much considering how little work this class has.

Also, do not, I repeat do not skip class. You can’t learn the insights and things he will say from reading Kant. It’s just not there. The things he says are answers to questions. So, that being said, I wouldn’t worry too much about in depth notes, just listen closely/record and listen later and pay attention in your TA session.

I think the grades for the first mt were kinda low, but the final helps a lot. He is a what have you done for me lately grader, I think. I got an A having not gone to half his classes, but in retrospect it would have made my life way easier. The only thing that saved me was listening to lectures afterward.
