How difficult are Umich CoE in-state admissions?

I know they don’t release specific in-state admission results, but typically what are the GPAs and test scores like compared to OOS?

I would use the median figures as a guide. In-state will be a bit below, OOS a bit above. In-state CoE admission rates are a lot higher that OOS but there is a lot of self-selection going on too. GPA’s differ between schools ; UM will normalize grades and assign a weight to each high school so GPA’s across schools are not comparable.

I have seen a lot of in-state students with just below spectacular grades and/or < = 25 percentile test scores in-state waitlisted or denied ; many of them end up at MSU or Wisconsin. Your typical in-state engineering student will have just a few 'B’s and almost all A or A- grades and strong math and science credentials.
