I was thinking of taking it next year as a sophmore. how hard is the class and the ap exam. any help will be appreciated

I personally find it pretty challenging.

As a sort of benchmark, as difficulty is subjective, I took AP Calc BC, Bio, and World History as a sophomore and got all 5’s.

it highly depends on the class
but it’s actually pretty difficult.
It was unexpected for me to be this difficult

as a benchmark for me
I got 5s on AP calc bc, physics C, physics B, Chem, world history
4 on US

So, it’s pretty hard

I found it pretty easy. It’s probably among the easiest AP classes and exams I’ve taken so far (took it 10th grade, got a 5). What helped a lot was I was already interested in the subject, which was a huge intrinsic motivator.

You could always look up Mehran Sahami’s Stanford CS106a lectures. It’s intro comp sci here so it’s probably similar to what you do in ap cs.

easymode AP
didn’t study, got 5
(but at my school programming 1 and 2 were pre-req.)

At least at my school, you either get it or you don’t
Obviously the people that already can hack and stuff are doing well, for others it takes some time, and other people don’t get it at all. I guess it’s like AP Stat

(I don’t take it personally, but a lot of my friends do)

Mapleleafs26, that sounds exactly like my school’s AP Comp Sci program and I live in Maine too… hmmm lol?

But yeah, I got a 5 on the exam and finished each part with 20+ minutes to spare… if you are good at math and understand programming you’ll do well on the exam… its the only one I’ve taken so far.

looks my approximation was accurate for Maine schools

lol you’re name sounds more L-A than Downeastah anyway (just a hunch)

I took the AB exam, and I thought it was incredibly easy lol. But programming and overall computer configuration, as well as math and the sciences, are things I’m pretty big on, so yeah.

I got a 5 with a lot of time to waste.

Lots of my friends say it’s really easy, but they code and design their own layouts, graphics, etc.

I’m only a freshie, but I don’t think it will be overly hard. <— I code my layouts too. It’s not the best in the world (design wise) and I only code in HTML and CSS if that helps at all.

graphics are not really dealt with in APCS
and I guess a web-based coding will help, but it’s still pretty different

ooh okay ^.^ I thought knowing html/css/javascript would help.

I’m just guessing though. I haven’t taken APCS yet :/

i’m taking it right now w/o ANY prior knowledge of programming (and my school does notoriously well on AP exams) and i think it’s challenging, but not impossible.
i tend to think AP chem, AP physics and AP calc BC are tougher, if that helps??

I took a course on C++ last year…the class is pretty easy.

FLVS just likes to dish out a lot of work, though, so don’t take it through them… -_-;

My teacher was cool so it was basically a free period/study hall the entire year. 5. (although most people got 1s and 2s -_-)
Html wont help you
im geussing javascript/c++ will help you a bit.

its really not that hard, especially if u love tech

easiest class i have taken. most ppl finish the programs in like 20 minutes and play games for the rest of the week
we call the class apcs (ap counter strike) since we have counter strike LAN parties on a weekly basis.
AP test wise, it wasnt bad at all. a few weeks for cramming did the job for me

Computer Science was really, really easy at my school. We had a 2-class sequence of Intro/Intermediate CompSci before you took AP sophomore year, making it mostly review stuff.

I’m taking AP Computer Science A with zero background, and it’s really not bad. I’m decent at math, but not like a super math genius, and APCS is really not too hard. It has it’s moments, but it’s really quite manageable. And interesting; I’m glad I took it.
