How difficult is AP Economics?

I’m choosing my courses for my sophomore year and I’m debating whether or not to take AP Econ.

I’m currently taking the half year elective Intro to Economics and Financial Literacy. Right now, I have a 99 in the class (but I think my most recent quiz might lower my grade a point or two). We’re about halfway through the course right now.

However, I’m pretty bad at math so I don’t know if it would be a good idea to take AP next year.

Next year, I’m planning on taking two Accelerated (honors) classes and Journalism II as another elective. By the way, AP Econ is the only AP class offered to Sophomores at my school.

SO… how much math is involved in AP Econ? Would you recommend it for a sophomore who’s not very good at math, but has an interest in the more Social Studies-esq aspects of economics? What are the pros and cons of taking it? How difficult is AP Economics overall?

Thank you in advance!!

ps: I would likely take the course this year or not at all, as there other AP courses and electives I plan on taking my junior and senior years.

I only have experience with AP Macroeconomics, but I’ve seen that the math is universally very simple (nothing you wouldn’t see in Algebra 1). There is, however, a lot of emphasis on graphing, but the majority of the graphing is based on concepts such as supply/demand shifters, unemployment, and price level.

I have experience with AP macro and AP micro. It isn’t very mathematical and the graphing is very conceptual, rather than being especially quantitative. I have found that the social-science parts of it are extremely interesting and I have no regrets about taking it my sophomore year. AP economics isn’t an extremely difficult AP and it should be completely manageable with your tentative schedule for next year.
