I’m going to sdsu with a major I’m unhappy with in the college of arts and letters, and I’m thinking I want to get into a small business major because that’s really what I’ve wanted to do all along. How hard do you think it would be to change the major after my first semester at state? Impossible? Or is it inevitable to work if I work hard to take all the pre major work I can before I make the change?
All majors at SDSU are impacted. Here is the change major information to change for a Pre-Business major. After you change to a Pre-Business major, you then will also have to declare a Upper Division Business major.
Pre-Business::::::
Note: The following information applies to students whose major is anything other than a pre-business major and who wish to be a pre-business major. The rules and procedures for declaring an upper division Business major are different.
Admission to the pre-business major is controlled by the College of Business Administration. Students must meet specific requirements in order to be able to change to any pre-business major.
You may change to a pre-business major if you meet one of the following:
You have completed 6-29 college units and have an overall GPA of at least 2.0
You have completed 30-59 college units and have an overall GPA of at least 2.7
You have completed 60 units or more and have an overall GPA of at least 2.9
When you meet one of the requirements listed above, visit the Business Advising Center (EBA 448) for information on how to change your major.
You may not take RWS 290: Business Communications until you have declared your pre-business major. However, you may take all the other major preparatory courses and your general education courses if you are not a pre-business major.
Upper Division Business Major::::::
To earn a degree in Business you need to qualify to declare an upper division Business major. Only students with a declared upper division major may take upper division courses in the College of Business.

@Gumbymom I have a similar case where I want to change my Chemistry major to a Biochemistry major, is there a site where you got that information from? I searched pre-biochemistry major sdsu and didn’t get any results that had that much info. The major has the same exact major prep with a difference of one bio class.
