I’m interested in UVA but I’d like to live off campus in an apartment near the university. I’m wondering how difficult that is to achieve. Looking to pay less than 500 a month for a combined rent of 1000 or less with a roommate. Obviously finding a roommate is whole other issue but I’d like to see how pricey it is around Charlottesville.
@QrtyUiop it will be difficult finding an apartment in that range. Apartments in Charlottesville aren’t cheap in my experience. To be in that range, you definitely would have to be sharing a bedroom.
You can find some in that range. I know students renting at Clark Court Apartments. It is a 4 bedroom and each person has their own room. It is a block from the stadium and a dining hall. It is right next door to the Jefferson Scholars Foundation.
Hi! I’m currently a student at UVA, so hopefully this helps a little bit all first years are required to live on campus, which is relatively pricey (about 700-800 ish per month, but paid all at once), but after first year you are free to move off campus. The cheapest I’ve seen is low 500’s range for rent+utilities+wifi; I’m currently subletting at rent of $480 a month with $40 for utilities/internet. It really depends on the location as well-some of the fancier places go for $800 a month. I’d say typical range would be anywhere from 500-700/month (rent+utilities+wifi), though 500-600 is very easy to find
