Very easy if you are willing to work at Starbuck’s. If you intend to work in cinema it is a matter of he connections you’ve hopefully made in school and at internships.
I have always told my daughter… a current SCA junior… that there are, in my opinion, three key elements or advantages to attending SCA:
-
the overall education that you can receive at USC and moreover the specific education possible while attending SCA.
-
all that is possible in terms of internships and other opportunities while in L.A. and uniquely available through SCA for four years while at USC…
-
the global strength of the SCA Mafia… its alumni network… and the overall Trojan Family Network. As stated above… networking is a key component of making the most of being an SCA grad. Over time, if you remain persistent and sustain contacts and work to build new ones, it can yield tremendous results. Starting out… it may really depend on the initial contacts you made while there.
And finally… simply be tenacious. Never give up and always keep grinding. Eventually, the cream always rises to the top. SCA is merely a strong addition to your ever-building skill set / résumé.
I graduated from SCA back in May, and I think it’s safe to say that pretty much everybody I know from my class is working. Some people are freelancing by choice and working on independent projects, while others are office assistants at production companies or agencies. Plenty of people are also PAs, assistant editors, or work at game design companies. Of course, the people who don’t have jobs might not be comfortable sharing that, but I’m pretty confident that the vast majority of us are employed.
