My son was admitted to LSA, EA but was denied preferred admission to Ross. He is certain that he wants to major in Business. He plans to pledge a fraternity as a Freshman. From what I've read, there is only a 38% chance of getting admitted into Ross as a Freshman. Is it really that competitive? Can one rush a fraternity and still have time to study hard to get good grades? What does "getting involved" mean to gain admission? Is it worth the gamble? He was directly admitted into Smith at UMD, got into CP Scholars(an honors program) and got a small Merit Scholarship. We're OOS for both schools. Is it worth $17K per year plus airfare with no guarantee of getting into Ross? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
