How difficult is it to get into SUMAC (Stanford Math Camp)

I’m currently a junior and recently started researching summer program opportunities. The SUMAC program seems really interesting, but I noticed that they only take ~45 students. How difficult do you think it is to get into the program?

I’ve taken some college math courses, but I’ve never done any competition math before. Will I be at a significant disadvantage applying?

From what i’ve heard it’s pretty much a necessity to have at least qualified for USAMO to go to SUMAC. Of course, there’s no harm in applying, maybe you’ll surprise yourself :stuck_out_tongue:

I went to SUMAC and never came remotely close to qualifying for USAMO, so I’m not 100% sure about that. :stuck_out_tongue: Good luck!
