How difficult is it to 'get into' UD?

We're from NJ and my son & I just went to open house this week. He really, loved the school - as well as TCNJ, Rowan & Farleigh Dickinson. I've read here as well as 'heard' from others that TCNJ is pretty difficult to get into and Rowan is getting to be as well. How is UD? I think my son is right 'in there' as far as GPA, but we're waiting for SAT scores now. He'll have ltrs. of rec., etc.

Just wondering how everyone else's experience was with the school. We both really liked it. He's not sure, but most likely will be majoring in English w/creative writing and minor in photography if possible. Just seems that UD & Rowan have more to offer in this vein than TCNJ.

Thanks for any opinions!

My son got in, and will be attending, with very unspectacular stats. We have visited twice, and really liked it. Besides the beautiful campus, it has a very heavy out-of-state population, liberal feel, and seems to provide a good education in many areas/majors.

I would say Del is a few notches above Rowan and FDU. So far the communication has been very good. My son has picked up the phone and got answers to all sorts of questions/concerns. I just called them 5 minutes ago to ask about early move-in, and they were very helpful.

Is the UDelaware particulary strong in any major field ( e.g. Business, Poli Sci,
Engineering, Education, etc... ) ? I agree though, many kids from here in NJ seem to be interested in the school. Not sure whether as a primary or safe school. If I was 30 years younger, I would prefer UDel certainly ahead of a
school like Rutgers. Enjoy. MBJ

Thanks, both of you. This is my one and only so thankfully I only have to do this once.

I appreciate the help - he seemed to feel like he just fit in there better - for whatever reason. Here's keeping my fingers crossed!!

UD is strong in most fields, but is especially known for its engineering and nursing programs. Their communications program is also VERY competitive.
