@college0hopeful Statistically speaking, a rejection from Vanderbilt ED doesnt bode very well for a Penn or other ivy acceptance RD. That said, Vandy is known for having a less holistic admissions philosophy and focusing too much on scores. The ivies tend to be more holistic but that means that if you do not have top scores you need something else to really stand out.
Yes, @Penn95, I am painfully aware of this. It truly saddens me that after many years of working my butt off, late nights, tears, etc… my hard work will likely not pay off in terms of realizing my dream of attending a top-tier school. However, I am praying that my 34 superscored ACT and 4.1/4.3 GPA in addition to my essays, supplements, and recommendations will make a school like Penn value what I have to offer, however unlikely it may be.
The world doesn’t end if that happens. There’s always the option of working your butt off at whatever college takes you and transferring in. The big orange daddy did that and it worked out for him.
^ The big orange daddy had the benefit of his daddy making donations and having connections with Penn admissions people at the time. I ll hazard a guess that this helped much more than his academic merits. But still, it is perfectly possible to transfer in if you do well as a freshman/sophomore at another college, @college0hopeful
@college0hopeful I believe that UVA is on par (same tier) with Vanderbilt so congratulations to you! And some would argue Michigan also!
No they aren’t, UVA is a large public institution, Vanderbilt is a much smaller private institution. The overall experience will be quite different and the cohort at Vandy will be much different from UVA or UM.
Best of luck to you ! Definitely let us know on the 28th of March how you make out …
Thanks!
Also, the UVA early action stats for out of state were as follows:
21.5% acceptance rate
33-35 middle 50% ACT range
I will let you guys know my decision when the time comes…
You got into Michigan, UVA, and UNC and you’re worried you won’t be able to go to a good enough school? You are putting unnecessary pressure on yourself. These are amazing schools where only the best and brightest are admitted. Based on these admittances alone, you will be going to a world-class university.
True dat!
I GOT INTO PENN! IM SO HAPPY
@college0hopeful Congrats!!! I’m so happy for you. Do you have any advice for me? I’m trying to get into Wharton next year. What were your EC’s like?
@college0hopeful Congrats on the acceptance!! For those of us still learning the ropes, would you be willing to list your ECs? Also, any hooks? Thanks!!
That is awesome news ! Congratulations …
@college0hopeful Congrats! I was admitted into Penn at CAS too!
