So I guess this is a chance me, but I wasn’t really going to focus it on just me, but a general idea. Whitman is my top choice (my second school of choice is Maxwell). I’m a senior this year and intend to apply early decision no matter what, but I want to know if I should get my hopes up. I know Newhouse is nearly impossible to get into, but I wasn’t sure where Whitman stood on the scale of difficulty.
My GPA is subpar, 2.7, but its due to medical issues that ruined my junior transcript (my guidance counselor said she’ll explain that in her rec) I had straight As and Bs Freshman and Sophomore year, and my term one transcript will come out before ED deadlines and will show I have an upswing (As and Bs this semester in honors and AP classes). Otherwise, as for everything else, I have a 27 composite for ACTs, I have leadership in 2 clubs (treasurer of Model UN club and Debate club) as well as volunteer work, and multiple other clubs (Students for Students which is a club to help underprivileged students receive education and then Student Council and yearbook). I will be visiting Syracuse soon and attending a whitman business seminar, as well as doing a personal interview which I hope will go well. I also have a really killer essay (according to my guidance counselor), two really good recs from teachers, and I got a 4 on both my AP Lang and APUSH exams last year and will be taking the exam for AP Comparative Government and AP Statistics in the spring.
Do I even have a shot at Whitman? I really would like to know how difficult the school is. Thanks!
