How difficult is it to maintain a 3.5 GPA for CAS

Currently enrolled BU students,

but we may attack. so i'd beware.

some people can be total *****es to prospective students.

i'm in cas and none of my friend, all freshmen, have a 3.5, especially my pre-med friends.

i have a 3.1 currently and i hope it will be a 3.5 by the end of the semester.

getting a 3.5 definitely won't be easy ... you have to work for it, even if it means staying in for a weekends.

the attack was in reference to the bunite community - i'd beware. the older students have attitude problems sometimes

I think the OP may want to know because 3.5 may be the minimum GPA required to keep a scholarship.

MY S has a half-tuition scholarship, and he has to maintain a 3.25 GPA.

I'm not aware of a scholarship with that requirement. Maybe something not BU funded? Assuming this is just a question about grades, like at any school you can choose classes based on how easy you think they'll be. Some people care more about that than others. The average grade at BU is slightly above a 3.0, so yes it's clearly possible to maintain a grade average better than the average (since that's in the definition of an average). How you do that and what your abilities and interests are - that's up to you.

Lergnom, Trustee Scholars must keep a 3.5.
If you're a strong enough student to earn a scholarship carrying that requirement, you're almost certainly capable of maintaining a high GPA.
It will require work, though. BU (to generalize) puts a premium on laborious, measurable learning-- almost in compensation for the wide range of ability levels on campus.

Thanks, fiddlefrog. This question has been posted on BUnite. Don't do that. BUnite is college students talking to each other and they aren't necessarily polite or helpful - more likely sarcastic and ironic. The last time this came up some started bragging about how they had such high gpa's and that started a little war.

"the older students have attitude problems sometimes..."

I'm an older student! I'll try not to have an attitude problem. ;-)

Anyways, although I am not in CAS (I'm in COM), I find it difficult to keep a 3.5. I don't want to try to scare you or anything. I went out a lot with friends freshman year and got caught up in the city. So my grades suffered. I am doing much better sophomore year though...just stay focused!
