I'm interested in running track or playing soccer in college (mostly track). My academics just about match up and I was hoping I could try and get offered something to run track. This year I will most likely break 59 in the 400 and I am a female. Please let me know how difficult it is to get noticed or recruited.

You won’t get offered money. Ivy league schools don’t offer scholarships for sports or for merit. All grants and scholarships are need based.

I wasn’t talking about money I was talking about being offered a position on the team

Have a look at the Recruited Students forum. If you’re considering Penn, you certainly must be considering running/soccer at other schools, right? Ask your own coaches how to proceed – they’re in the best position to assist you.

Thanks!

You might be able to do track…soccer is going to be a lot more difficult. Club is always an option though and it is super competitive. They take like 2-3 girls a year. One thing to keep in mind is that being a varsity athlete is EXTREMELY difficult. I know from experience. I played 3 varsity sports in high school, but that doesn’t even compare to what it’s like to play a varsity sport at a school as rigorous as Penn. Make sure that this is something that you really want and are willing to put your heart and soul into…because that’s what it’s going to take, and then some.

Thanks!!
