How difficult is it to transfer from community college to an ivy league school?

as well as Middlebury with a full ride, from a cc

Please be careful with the term "full ride", as most people associate it with merit scholarships, and Midd has no merit aid, only need based FA.

Hm..Interesting, I did not know that. The student did not, however, receive the same financial aid at Georgetown, Penn and Brown, so I assumed it was merit aid.

All of those schools use the Profile for institutional FA. Although you send the same financial information to all schools, they use different formulas to calculate your need. They also use "professional judgment" which can affect your FA package up or down.

For some people, the FA packages from different schools are very similar, for others, they aren't. For instance, when my D applied as a freshman, there was a 15k/yr difference between the highest and lowest FA offers, all from schools that gave 100% of need. Much has to do with the endowment of the school, richer schools can afford to be more generous with FA.

Oh ok, thank you so much for explaining that, entomom!

And you just basically stated exactly what I said. The quality of the education had nothing to do with my (or presumably the OP's) argument, but thanks for trying.

A guy from my CC just finished his first semester at Dartmouth. I'm frustrated by the assumption that someone at a CC cannot possibly even prove that they're capable of doing top level work. My CC routinely sends students to top schools.

Hm I notice that your location is Philly suburb and I'm wondering if you attend my cc. I attend Montco.

aerialblue, what exactly WERE the stats of the girl who got into Yale from CC?

I'm also curious about heerapatel's question as well.

Also, 'tenniscostaleez', what separated your friend from the other high achieving students at the CC?

Thanks

I forgot - just look her up. You could also tell from her posts that she was very intelligent (unlike some of the people on here).

Er, how do you look it up?

Difficult but possible. Thread Closed.

Could you tell me which cc is it?
