Right now I am a high school senior; I am accepted undeclared to UCSD and I want to transfer to Computer Science. If I fail to get in, can I transfer from UCSD to Davis and get into CS there (after freshman and sophmore years)? Is it easy since its from a “better” school to a “worse” school? Thanks
If you don’t get into m UCSD’s CS program, you will probably be unable to get into Davis’ program as well. No, it’s not easy to transfer from SD to Davis (and the ranking difference between the two is really negligible) - you will need a high GPA to be competitive.
If you want to definitely be admitted to a school’s CS program, going to community college and transferring is probably the best route.
You should be able to get into UCSD’s CS program if you work hard.
I am unsure why not being to get into the CS program would be a great concern at this point. In order to join the program from an undeclared major, you would need to complete the prerequisite in a timely fashion with a competitive GPA. Which is the exact same thing that you would have to do at a CC or a potentially different UC.
CC students have priority over all other transfers, but current students will always have priority over transfers (Priority in terms of comparable applicants, of course). Sure, if you do not get good grades, a transfer student could receive a spot over you, but if you are doubtful that you will get good grades at UCSD, then that would no less be the case for UCD, or anywhere else.
