How difficult is it to transfer to Columbia?

I am currently a freshman at Cornell. My major is ILR. I hate everything about Cornell including my major. I want to transfer to Columbia or Barnard to study economics and be closer to home. How difficult is it to transfer out of Cornell and into those colleges? Thank you.

Of course, it is quite difficult to get into Columbia College via transfer. The overall acceptance numbers are comparable to the regular admissions. (Note that the statistics seen on the transfer websites are for CC and SEAS combined, and do not break out CC separately.) Coming from another Ivy confers no additional advantage unless you have done well in your first year at Cornell. The acceptance rate for Barnard would be more favorable. Hopefully, you have not let your unhappiness affect your grades and ability to get a good recommendation.

if you don’t mind me asking, what are the specific reasons you hate Cornell? I’m considering transferring there but I want a good idea of what I’m getting into

It would be much easier to change your major at Cornell…have you talked with an academic advisor?

Yes, OP, out of curiosity, why do you hate Cornell? Why not switch into Econ in the CAS?
