How difficult is PHY 303L + 103N?

I have read from others on CC that it is brutal, but some more opinions from those who have taken it or heard about it would be greatly appreciated.

If it is not advisable to take it at UT, is there a course at a remote school like ACC that is equivalent to PHY303L + 103N that UT will accept? I only need to take this course to fulfill a science sequence requirement. I'm not majoring in engineering.

Anyone? :(

It was brutal when I took it in 1981 and I hear that it is still that way!

Yes, you can take it at ACC. I don’t know the course number, though. My son took the class and the lab one summer.

Sweet! Thank you so much! Did your son find the ACC class + lab easy?

I have heard PHY303 L (Electricity and magnetism) is the most difficult lower-division physics class at UT. My son claimed credit with AP score for it.

Hmm, why do you intend on taking engineering physics and not an easier physics if you are not engineering?

If you are not familiar with it already, you can easily find which classes UT accepts from other schools with UT ATE.

[UT ATE System - Query by UT Course](<a href=“UT ATE System”>UT ATE System)

Just type in the school you want to take the class at and then enter the UT class that you are trying to get the equivalent credit for. For example, you could select ACC, select the physics department, and then type in 303L.

Remember, each school has their own pre-reqs or classes so you will need to make sure that you meet them. If you have engineering physics 1 at UT, you should be able to meet the pre-reqs anywhere for physics 2.

One of the requirements to get a BS in computer science is that I have to take two sequences of lab science. Physics mechanics + E&M is one sequence, and I’m taking the AP exam for physics C mechanics which will knock out the first half of the sequence, so I need an easy way to finish the E&M part.

Looks like I’ll be taking PHYS 2426 at Austin Community College! Thanks everyone for your help! :D

Why you are not taking the physics C electricity and magnetism exam? I thought the C exam covers both mechanics and E&M.

If you do well on the AP physics C exam, you could claim credit for both 303K + 103N-mechanics and 303L + 103M-electricity and magnetism.
