How difficult is the average CLEP test?

I am a high school graduate as of May, and decided to take a semester off from college. Anyways, I found that I've been extremely bored and craving mental stimulation. My friend mentioned the CLEP tests so I decided to check them out. I think I'd like to take College Algebra, College Mathematics, US History, American Government, Economics (macro/micro) etc.. I got a 27 on my ACT the first time taking it, without any preparation and/or studying. How difficult should the tests be?
Thanks!

Might I suggest seeing if you can pick up an old version of the CLEP Office Study Guide book? I have heard these old copies can be found in libraries and used bookstores. This book not only has a description of each exam, but also a practice exam (within the book so hopefully someone has not permanently marked their answers) with the answer key at the end. This might give you an idea of the difficulty of each topic, at least a starting point.
