How difficult is the Greek Life for an OOS?

Hello rebel nation, I just want honest opinions about the greek life at Ole Miss and how hard is it for an out of state student to be a part of it... But wait theres a twist to it. I'm currently a transfer student from Puerto Rico. I've been interested in Ole Miss for a while now, since its a different environment and has a very strong tradition with respected programs and the simple southern atmosphere. If everything goes as planed and i attend there, I would like to join a fraternity, since I feel could be helpful for my social and academic life. Since I'm a Hispanic/Latino do you think it'll ruin my chances of being selected. Any info would be more than welcome. Thanks!!! Hotty Toddy*

I would encourage you to research Greek life on campus at Ole Miss and find out what’s right for you. One of the main misconceptions is that Greek life is the center of the university. It’s NOT. There are tons of things to get involved in. If it’s possible, you should visit the campus and meet some of our students.

I am a graduate of Ole Miss, and I know that there have been a few students of Hispanic/Latino descent that have been in fraternities/sororities. It all depends on the person and finding the right fit with an organization.

I hope that this helps a little bit.

It sure did. Thank you! Ill be planning a visit soon. Hopefully all goes well and I end up at Ole Miss this fall even if I end up not going greek. Ill definitely look up some sports too.

That’s great! I hope that you enjoy your visit to Oxford!
