I am an RD applicant going for the history and economics major in CAS. For those of you who have experience at Vanderbilt, or even better, share the same major, could you give me a run-down of this major’s difficulty? Will it be relatively easy to maintain a solid (3.2-3.7) GPA? Will I have time to rush and indulge in the social aspect of Vanderbilt? I’m a reach, so I probably won’t end up attending, but I would like to know some background on the school’s difficulty.
Academics at Vanderbilt in general are challenging. I would not say Econ is particularly difficult compared to other majors. All majors have plenty of time for rushing and being social while maintaining good grades.
Econ is relatively easier than some of the other majors (like science ones). From someone that rushed first semester, be careful about your course load, otherwise you’ll probably have to stop rushing if you want to keep your gpa (I had to stop).
