How difficult is to get in MCB major?

can anyone share some exprience???cut-off gpa etc. thank you a lot!

Supposedly it's one of the easiest to get into because it's in the College of L&S.

how about getting a C in biology classes but all A's for other majors courses(chem, math, physics)??tks for your reply!

bump page...

well if you get a C in bio, good like in MCB!

what do you mean unlimitedx???

what's my chance then??

anyways tks for reply,anyone else??

the problem with MCB is not getting admitted to the program,

it's keeping your UC GPA up.

since MCB is not impacted and is in L&S it is fairly easy to get into (assuming you are qualified enough to be able to get into cal), but admission will be nothing compared to the work you will have to put into keep a decent GPA.

my friend told me that MCB is assumed to be an easy-get-in-but-hard-to-get-out major,do you guys agree???

I am not sure how true it is that it is hard to "get out of MCB" because it is a non-impacted major in L&S, so transferring into another non-impacted major in L&S should not be very hard.

But if you got a C in bio, i would seriously consider whether or not that C was for technical reasons or if you just couldn't handle the courseload/the difficulty. Any MCB class will be oodles harder than any high school bio course.

lol EECS is hard to get in and hard to get out

Mehmet actually I am a transfer student

"lol EECS is hard to get in and hard to get out"

hard to get out?

Admissions is based on school and not by major. If it's an impacted major, which like half the hot majors (econ, mcb, etc) are, your chances are the SAME.

For the UC app, if you choose your alternate major from the same school, you are screwed. Unless of course they jus tdidn't have space for you in that major. In the case of Cal, they offered EECS students a second choice major. But otherwise, admissions is based on the school you apply to (CoE CoLS, CoC)

I heard from someone that TRANSFER STUDENT has to score 75% or above in American Chemical Society (ACS) Organic Chemistry Exam to complete the O-Chem series, or they will have to re-take chem3a and chem3b at Cal. Is that true?!

Admissions is based on school and not by major. If it's an impacted major, which like half the hot majors (econ, mcb, etc) are, your chances are the SAME.

All seniors applying for an engineering major is based admitted based on what major they chose, not the college.

check CoE's website.

hard to get out as in hard to get high gpa to get out

i never got 2nd choice major for EECS or alternative major from CAL

do you attend cal now?

I applied EECS(and was accepted), but I was never given the chance to select an alternate major. Nor were any of my friends who applied as EECS. Can you expand on this?

this fall admission...

err...how come we r not taking about MCB anymore??
it has become a eecs thread?! plz no..

lol sorry go ahead and talk more about mcb
