At my school, there are only 6 periods. You can take certain A-G courses (e.g. 9th grade Bio, 10th grade English) at the local CC during the summer, but hardly anyone takes that route unless they're trying to propel themselves directly from Alg. II to Calculus AB.

If there are only 6 periods * 2 semesters/year * 3 years (9th-11th gr.), then wouldn't most people have around 36 semesters?

Of course, many people take Alg. I in 8th grade (which adds 2 sem.) and perhaps foreign languages in middle school (up to 4 sem.), but how do the majority of people applying to UCLA and Cal have 47+ semesters?

I don't get it! NO ONE at my school has that many A-G semesters. & I go to a massive, urban school with 2200+ students. We are automatically down 6 semesters (b/c most students are required to take 2 years of PE and 1 year of Health/College and Career Ed. in 9th/10th grades).

How many A-G semesters do you guys have? Am I supposed to be incorporating 12th grade classes (12 additional semesters) into the equation also? B/c would make a TREMENDOUS amount of more sense. Thanks guys!
