there are people talented enough to do everything better with 10% of the effort? It must be pretty depressing, having to actually work hard in high school.

I pretty much don’t think about that and just worry about myself. I guess it helps me stay focused and think about how I AM doing, not how bad I am compared to so-and-so.

I am one of these strivers. I work hard in high school and don’t do as well as others. While it is indeed quite depressing and frustrading, it is what it is. Crying and losing sleep over the matter will not change it.

I agree ^ I mean of course it’s frustrating, but hey I’m not getting any better by being a “sore loser” so to speak…

Umm you sound like you are trying to brag. How pathetic. That is how I deal. I know that those people have some other type of flaw.

Hard work is the foundation for success.

It’s called personal satisfaction.

Not in particular. If everything were easy there wouldn’t be any reason to live.

lol. the harder the work gets, the less “natural talent” plays a role. it’s not like someone is always 90% more efficient than you. for something easy, they might be able to do it with 10% effort compared to me, but the effort’s really small so it doesn’t matter much. then as it gets harder they can do it with 20%, 50%, 70%, etc. when it comes to something that really counts, how much sleep someone needs or how well they can handle sleep deprivation becomes a much larger determining factor IMO.

LOL xD anyone who doesn’t work hard in high school just has really easy classes or goes to an easier school. there’s also the possibility that they are so used to hard work, that they don’t even KNOW that what they’re doing is hard work, but that can only go so far.

The way the OP’s comes off is very condescending and very haughty. You’ll see in college. Regardless, I didn’t concern myself with how much I had to work compared to others. I still do that now. How someone else does is not my concern. I have to do MY best.

Eh, I don’t really care about others. I think if I truly really had the motivation to make all A’s It would take about 80% effort. Passing a test (A) 5%-20% effort. Doing homework 0% (Same effort). The Finals and AP exam. 100% effort. I really wake up during those tests lol.

Cope? Idk, I don’t think struggling over a problem is depressing- it can be pretty satisfying once you figure out the answer, regardless of how long it takes you versus how long it took someone else.

Nobody (barring some disability) is talented enough to do literally everything better than someone else with 10% of the effort. To you, ‘everything’ probably refers to school work. This is an extremely narrow view of the world, since there are certainly people who can do other types of work better than you with 10% of the effort.

And even if it takes 10x the effort, so what? This work ethic breeds success. So the same people who have to “cope” with this may end up more successful than you.

I worded the first sentence incorrectly. I meant that a single person, barring some disability, will be able to do at least ONE thing better than this hypothetical person.

If this was me in tenth grade, I would care. A lot. But now, I’ve learned to caring about other people, and live my own life. Honestly, I don’t care if you can do what I do with less effort: that has no effect on me, therefore it is irrelevant.

Have fun with your condescension and arrogance HuaChingNi, I have more important things to worry about.

I got too much money to care about how other people are doing.

I do the best that I can. I don’t see why I should spend my waking hours worrying about how well other people do in comparison to me.

Nice arrogant attitude there, by the way, HuaChingNi.

Two words: Comparative advantage.

You know what. I’m going to have to take the OP side on this one. Most subject except English are so simple to me, I always be thinking when someone ask a question like how do u not know something so simple. How do u not know that u can take a cube root of 27 cubed to solve for X…

^Because not everyone has that same intuition or “mind’s eye” to see that all the time. What may be simple to you may be difficult to others. I don’t think the OP’s mentality is a winning one in life. It just feeds this elitism we have on the “naturally talented” vs. the hard worker.

Because I ain’t no victim. And I hate complainers. I want born to be fast or strong but I’ve worked out for 3 years. Just clause someone is better than you means you shouldmope
