How Do AP Classes Work with Online schools?

How would someone do the AP exam and pay a fee if their taking it with a online school? Don't they need someone to monitor the exam?

I'm considering doing some classes online so I hope someone can answer. It appears most online schools don't really seem to say.

I would think you would have to take the AP class online, but you would go to the testing site to take the exam. When I did my classes online and over the phone last year, I just went to a testing site for tests that needed high security (midterms, finals, etc). I doubt collegeboard would release AP exams to individuals without direct supervision.

Nooo you take it live everybody else you register with college board and pick a test location near you and pay the fee that pretty much it just make sure to register before the deadline (check their site for it)

-taken ap courses online

I’m taking 2 online AP courses this fall.

For me, I do the online class, then go to a testing center in May and take the test.

I took AP Psyche over the past summer. First, you set up to take the class online with your guidance counselor or whoever is in charge of that at your school. What happens is, at least in my case, you select an end date (usually you are given a max of 5 months for a one semester course and 8-10 months for a two semester course) and you can turn in/take any assignment or test at any point during this period so long as you get everything in before your designated end date.

Once you complete the course (or after your end date expires) the online school sends your score report to your guidance department who adds it onto your transcript (depending on how it factors in to your GPA, if at all) and copies the score down from what your teacher gave you in the class.

Your score in the class is separate from your score on the test, in case you didn’t already know. Some colleges even consider the score in the class to be more important in terms of admission “brownie points” than your score on the test, if you report one (at least I hope so because I bombed my AP tests Lol). To set up the exam, you probably go through guidance again, the chief guidance counselor or whoever is in charge orders the test for you, and you take the test at your school or another testing center on the date it’s given. You get your scores back in July. I hope this helps!

Thanks for posting everybody! This really helped clear up some things for me.
