I have a choice of attending BU or Clark next semester as a transfer student. I think that I would like the atmosphere at Clark a lot more than that of BU, but I was wondering if anyone knows off hand how well Clarkies usually do with getting into top grad schools like Duke and Chicago. I know that BU has a heck of a lot more name recognition, is a tad more selective, and its faculty tend to get more praise from academia, but are Clark students usually on par with other those who attended large, very well-known schools like BU, as far as getting into grad schools?

At Clark, you could always do the free year accelerated masters program.

I am sure the grad schools will look more at your grades then what school you went to. I'd go to wherever you fit in.

If you're willing to wade through a lot of data, download Appendix B-18; it seems that, relative to its small number of students, Clark produces a lot of Ph.Ds.

The data is old, but as far as I know, information this detailed from the more recent studies are not publicly available.

For a PhD, which is what I am working towards, grad schools will be placing weight on my research skills. Due to the smaller size of Clark, I have had amazing opportunities to work closely with faculty and develop different skills from participating in their research project. I can't speak for BU, but I really do appreciate the willingness of the faculty at Clark to involve undergraduates in their research.

But please, choose your undergraduate institution based on its fit with what environment you will learn best in.

I do know more than two students who have gone to Harvard after Clark.

And I want to know more
