<p>My high school uses a weighted 6.0 GPA scale. When I graduate (im a sophmore), how will colleges calculate my GPA? Will each college have their own personal formula or is there some universal formula they use? All this is really confusing...</p>
<p>Each college will calculate it differently. There is no way to answer this. Some will take your GPA as is, some will proportionalize it to a 4.0, some will use their own indices, some will only use academic subjects.</p>
<p>It’s probably safe to say that most top-ranked schools will read your transcript for the info they want, regardless of how your school grades, and they may not reduce it to a single number. We use GPA as shorthand, but admissions is looking for a lot more detail than that and they know how to extract it without recalculating your GPA.</p>
