I ask this because Georgia Tech (my top choice) is visiting my Connecticut high school this upcoming week. I checked Naviance and only 4 kids have applied since 2007, so why would they take the time to visit my school? Also, I checked Naviance for a couple other nearby high schools and Tech is not visiting them.

They don’t pick them at random. Something about your school suggests likelihood of applications. That doesn’t mean that you, in particular, have any edge however. It’s blanket marketing.

Or it may be as simple as GA Tech they were traveling to CT, and your HS had an available slot that fit their schedule. Maybe they hadn’t visited in a while and why not.

Who knows. I wouldn’t take their visit (or lack of a visit) as having much impact on any individual application.

Yes, it is a good sign…you have a chance to speak directly with a rep from your top choice school. Be prepared and be thankful for the opportunity.
