How do colleges find out about my tardies and absent records?

Hello,

I have previously attended two different highschool (both American) and found that neither of the two wrote my tardy or absence records on the transcript.

Is this a common thing that American highschools do (not reporting tardy or absense record on the transcipt)?
If so, how do colleges figure out such record?

Thanks!

Unless the number of tardies or absences are egregious enough to warrant disciplinary action, why would the colleges care? When u go to college and you’re late for class, mommy & daddy do not get a call from the dean.

So your simple answer is: colleges do not care about tardies and absence?

^ Yes.

No, they do NOT release that information! Anyone who tells you differently is wrong. Grades only.

Um. I don’t know about anyone else but my tardies and absences are present on my transcript.

@glasssculpture‌ that’s not true. It depends on the high school. Some high schools do include the attendance record on the transcript. The county where I went to high school had a section for each term listing the attendance record.

Another place where it might turn up is if you submit something from your guidance counselor and your attendance problem was so severe that it had to be noted. I wouldn’t spend too much time worrying about this though, it’s not exactly the most important thing on your transcript.

It’s so unimportant as to the fact that many high schools DON’T report it at all. Colleges don’t care.

I agree most colleges tend not to focus much on puntucaltiy unless it was a problem for you in high school. Displaying your attendance informationn varias within high schools . Also certain colleges may also look if it is listed as a reference or ask

My daughter’s school does not report that information. It depends on the school.

My daughter had an illness and I was worried the amounts of absents would affect her. The school (Chicago Schools) does not send them and the colleges I called said they do not read them. University Michigan, UIUC, UW Madison, Ohio State, Duke, Chapel Hill, Berkley, Northwestern. She accepted to all except Duke and UW Madison. Yeah, no idea why no to UW Madison considering she was legacy.

This is true, at Flagship U, missing a 500 person lecture is not going to be noticed.,but at small LACs if you don’t show for class, the professor is likely to notice. Like call you and ask where you were and check if you’re okay. When you have less than 10 in some classes, and sometimes less than 5, and it’s a discussion based class, not showing up sort of throws the whole class off. And adversely affects your grade.
