How do colleges sort up the SAT scores to put it into your file?

I need to ask this because I think I accidentally registered my SAT with my name inaccurately 'placed'. In my CA, I put down my first, middle and last name. But in the SAT registration, I had my first name correct, but since my middle name did not fit in the first and middle initial name box, I put it together with my last name. In other words, when the admission ticket is printed, my name apprears like this 'first' 'middle' 'last'. Just as how my name would appear in my CA.

So ths problem is this, if colleges look for my SAT scores by searching for my last name, they might not be able to find it because it begins with my middle name.

Should I worry over this? Or should I reregister my CB account with my first and last name only? I will be retaking the SAT for the second time in January.

Colleges don’t have to “look” for your scores; you request to have them sent to them. So when you take the SAT, you can list some schools that you want to receive your scores. Afterward, you can go on the Collegeboard website and send them to other schools. Your biggest problem is going to be that putting your name down on the SAT’s two different ways may generate multiple score reports, meaning that your scores will get separated onto reports under two different names. This might be hard to sort out so that colleges get all your scores. I would e-mail Collegeboard and explain the situation and ask them if they can put your two identities together into one report/account.

Hey fire escape. I know I need to send my scores to the colleges and not they go searching for it in CB. But my dilemma is, what if they put my SAT score into a folder that is not mine when they receive it? I read somewhere that colleges sort the files by the family/last name. In my case my last name is different.

Now CB seem to be playing tricks with me. I selected my 4 colleges(to send SAT scores) within 10 days after the test. Now I see that they sent to only one college. Grr…

Haha, sorry, I see what you’re saying now. From your OP I thought you were describing a system of some huge CB database full of everyone’s scores and college adcoms being puzzled because they couldn’t find yours no matter what they searched under…

Also call/e-mail the colleges if you have already sent the scores, in case they have already filed them so that they’re where you need them to be later.
