Hello, I was wondering if there is a centralized list of each college people have gone to so that colleges will know. For instance, is there a way for colleges to know if you have been to a certain school?
I would like to not send transcripts of one school. Will the colleges be able to find out? How would they find out?
The school in question is an online program and there are no financial aid records. I don’t want to disclose that I was a part of it.
The only way colleges know what schools you’ve went to is when you self-report and your school(s) send in your official transcripts. If it’s a supplemental course, like a online one that does not count for your HS graduation credits, I doubt you have to report it unless it fulfilled a requirement from your high school to graduate. If it’s going to hurt your application, don’t report it.
You are obligated to provide official copies of all of your transcripts. No matter how old. No matter how bad. No matter if they were online programs that you paid for without financial aid. No matter if you studied in a foreign country. Every. Single. Transcript.
Not only do you have to disclose it, you can get into a world of trouble if you don’t. When it’s discovered, your admission can be rescinded, you can get expelled, and any financial aid you receive can be converted to loans you have to repay.
My bad. I had no idea idea about the College Clearinghouse. Disregard my answer. Apologies for the misinformation. I would NEVER advocate for lying on an application. I thought this was a not-for-credit kind of course.
