How do colleges look at your GPA?

Do they look at only core classes, like math scirnce english, or everything? Or do they look at both? Does it depend on the non-core class, like an IB elective? Or does it depend on the college? Thanks

They primarily weigh core classes, yet if you want to go a to a design or music school, IB elective classes like art and music will help! Yay for me taking another HL instead of an IB elective, I'm sorta insane....

If a college recalculates your gpa, they will use only academic courses (math science english social-studies and foreign-language). Only the elite private schools would recalculate gpa's because of the work involved. They might also read off the grades for each year without actually during the math, such as 4A's, 2B's, and then 5A's and 1B. It depends on the college.
