How do colleges recalculate GPA?

hi,

Do colleges recalculate your GPA, weighted or unweighted?
Also, please be specific as to which school uses weighted or unweighted.

Thanks!

Some do. Some don’t.

For example, at Dartmouth, according to their Dean, they feel they have enough to do reading and assessing applications without recalculating GPAs.

The answer to this question is really school-specific–and also often hard to find out.

Which colleges interest you?

ivies, washu, swarthmore, amherst, williams, vanderbilt.

^As well as MIT, Caltech, and Duke, if you don’t mind. :)

Posting on their forums, or gasp calling admissions is a good way to get an answer.

Each school may have its own policy. Some take out electives, some may not. Some may weigh AP/honors, some may not.

You need to research each school for the correct info.
