How do colleges verify community service hours?

How? I heard some give a random form that asks for verification, exactly what kind of verification is required? Can you give them a form of signatures given by the community service place?

None of my colleges asked for verification. I think they just take your word for it, as long as it doesn't seem exaggerated.

often times they are familiar with the organization or they will ask your conselor about it. do NOT lie. I have heard of lots of people get busted for this.

the UCs randomly audit ~10% of all apps. They send you a letter and request documentation to support the info on your app, including ECs, awards, and the like.

Yes, most Universities give you the benefit of the doubt and probably know some students stretch their hours a tad more than they really did. However, most people get a Rec/Verification for their hours, and those who do get Recs tend to send them in if they can. other than that, just have verification incase the University asks for proof.
