How do colleges view "art" classes?

I am currently taking a sculture class at my highschool, and unfortunatly the teacher takes it very seriously and an A is very hard to come by.

Ive heard colleges do not count such art classes in thier gpa calculation, can anyone verify this?

I am very dissapointed seeing asthough I recieved a B/B- the first two quarters, which did indeed hurt my overall gpa.

thanks

Haha, at my school an art class is required, and is actually factored into your overall GPA (the one that affects your rank). Granted, it's probably not graded as harshly as your sculpture class.

Colleges probably don't really look at art classes, especially if it's an elective?

For me, it pulled up my grade/rank since I'm sort of an art loser, but beyond that it prob won't do much for me.

yea it is an elective, and im kicking myself everyday for not choosing a class w/ less work and stress

Heh, I wish my school had a sculpture class...

But I really don't think that it will be that bad, it just shows that you're not an extremely artistic person (and there's nothing wrong with that).

It really matters on the school - some of the small LACs will include them in your GPA, state schools and potentially ivies may throw them out. Remember though, if they're throwing out your arts classes scores, they're throwing everyone else's arts grades...
