Just what the title of the thread says--wasn't sure where else to post this on CC other than CC Cafe. How does someone get a credit card without having a credit history? I guess since I have a college degree I cannot get a student college credit card now?? I don't understand how this works and no one explained it to me. Reading online doesn't help because I don't understand all these %'s and numbers and things. Am I screwed for life or will I be able to get one somehow?

How can you be a college grad and not have one single credit card? Well the two ways most people get their first credit card with no credit history are too get a student credit card (which you still might be able to do) or get a secured credit card, where you put up like $100 and you get a $150 limit, then you build up credit from there. Good luck!

I just got a credit card with a $5,000 limit, with no credit history to my name. Mind you, I stole it.

But seriously... you should be able to get a card with at least a $1,000 limit without credit history. Just go to your bank and ask them to help you out.

Student Credit Cards are the best - my dad established credit through JC Penney! But seriously, a lot of retail stores allow you to get $200 student credit cards if you provide them with proof that you are attending college.
