I’ve been trying to figure out for about a week how to add my rec letters from professors to all of my applications at once. I am unable to find that option. Instead, it seems like I have to add them to each of my applications, which is not only tedious for me, but it would be a lot of work for my professors who I’m trying not to overwork with this. I’ve emailed the commonapp twice and they have yet to respond despite their claims of responding immediately.
Anyway, on another side note, what is a good number of colleges to transfer to? Is 5-10 a good amount?
I had to have each of my recommenders submit individually. About 4 rec’s per professor - was certainly not the greatest, but if they are willing to write a recommendation most likely would be ok with it. The recommendation form is the same for each, so just tell them to copy and paste whatever they write.
It is very frustrating though, had about 25 recommendation requests submitted - not sure why they switched to this setup.
I’m applying to 9 schools - couldn’t imagine applying to anymore than that. How many schools you apply to should depend on what your goals are. I want to transfer regardless of where I get in, so I’m casting a wide net. If your not willing to just transfer wherever, obviously be more selective with your list.
The transfer common app added a “re-use” button on the professor side of things. Just ask them if they can hit that for you so you can just put their name in and will be re-used for the next school without their intervention. They posted about it on their twitter.
@hotpetahgriffin Hey question. So would I have to wait 'til after they submit the first letter of rec., then I can click “re-use”? Or do they click it?
